Arts Advocacy Intern

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Type: Unpaid, Part-Time (flexible schedule)
Location: Remote with occasional in-person events (if applicable)

Internship Overview

As an Arts Advocacy Intern, you will play an integral role in supporting our mission. From event coordination to grant writing, this position provides a dynamic mix of responsibilities designed to help you grow and develop your skills in arts advocacy and nonprofit work. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, self-motivated, and eager to contribute to the arts and their surrounding communities.


Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with Monthly Open Mic-Open Sight Showcase
    Help coordinate and support this signature event, celebrating artists through live performances and creative displays. Tasks may include event planning, promotion, and day-of logistics.
  • Recruiting Talented Artists for the ArtSpeaks Bureau
    Connect with and recruit a diverse range of artists to participate in the ArtSpeaks Bureau, an initiative that uplifts voices through storytelling and advocacy.
  • Grant Research and Writing
    Conduct research to identify grant opportunities and assist in developing compelling grant proposals to secure funding for our programs.
  • Engaging with Learning Opportunities
    Participate in workshops, training, and other professional development opportunities to strengthen your knowledge of arts advocacy and nonprofit operations.
  • Supporting Additional Projects
    Collaborate with the team on various initiatives that may include social media outreach, community engagement, and administrative tasks.

Qualifications

We’re looking for individuals who share our passion for the arts and our commitment to making a difference. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A strong interest in arts advocacy and community engagement.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • An ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and/or grant writing is a plus (but not required).


Time Commitment

This is a part-time internship, with an estimated time commitment of 4-6  hours per week. Hours are flexible and can be tailored to fit your schedule.
